Posted on 4 February, 2023

Digos City, Philippines - True to its commitment to bring its services closer to its client, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) formally signed last 10 January 2023 the Usufruct Agreement with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Digos City in Davao del Sur province, and inaugurated its 31st Service Center nationwide and 2nd in Davao Region. Hon. Erwin M. Enad, PRC Commissioner II and Oversight for Physical Infrastructure, and Hon. Josef F. Cagas, City Mayor, led the signing ceremony joined by Regional Director Raquel R. Abrantes of PRC Regional Office XI and City Vice Mayor, Hon. Johari T. Baña.

Director Abrantes admitted in her message that PRC hasn’t been able to serve the southern portion of Davao. Despite this setback, she added that Digos Off-Site Service Center will ensure clients can now access PRC services in the simplest manner, near their places of residence or work and provides them with convenience.

Commissioner Enad emphasized the potential economic benefit this new service center will bring to Digos City. He added that by accessing PRC services, Professionals, businesses in the private sector will surely benefit, especially the city’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He concluded that in the future, the conduct of Board Licensure Examination would become a regular fixture in Digos City.

Mayor Cagas echoed these statements as the new Service Center will contribute to the vibrancy of Digos City. By opening the offsite center and PRC’s client base, he expects more people will come, thereby realizing his vision of Digos City as a city of choice to visit, live and work.

Vice Mayor Baña, in his message, relayed his surprise that only a few months of negotiations led to the actual ribbon cutting of the service center. He ended by saying that it is a sublime realization that by opening the service center, the PRC could turn into reality the dreams of families to see their children have the opportunity to become Professionals themselves, and that by itself is a significant accomplishment as a public servant.

Present also at the event was Atty. Marty R. Basunillo, City Administrator, and other City Officials. Heads and representatives of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Department of Education – Division of Digos City also joined the event together with PRC RO XI key personnel.

The Usufruct Agreement allowed PRC to use a vacant office space owned by the city to serve as its Service Center including personnel augmentation to assist in the operation. The agreement also provides a commitment from the City to donate a lot for PRC to construct its building.

Located on the 2nd Floor of Digos Business Center, operations started last 11 January 2023 and its services are available to clients from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mondays to Fridays. PRC extends its sincerest gratitude to LGU – Digos City for their support and assistance and most especially to the Digoseños for their warm hospitality.

Through collaboration and a shared desire to serve the public, PRC and Digos City resolve to only strengthen their partnership and continue to look for ways to provide accessible, convenient, and quality public services to aspiring Professionals and Professionals.
