Two “PRCs” Prepare a “Blood Compact” for Yearly Blood Donation
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Coinciding with our National Hero’s Birthday, Dr. Jose Rizal, June 19, 2023, played a significant date for two “PRCs”. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to institutionalize the conduct of Mobile Blood Donation every year. With an initial ten-year contract, subject to renewal, both parties agreed to have this voluntary and altruistic activity be held at least once a year.
The MOA signing was undertaken in the presence of PRC National Capital Region Director, Hon. Lord Louis P. Valera; Member of Health and Wellness Committee, Dr. Raymund S.M. Reyes; Member of Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Medicine, Hon. Eleanor B. Almoro; Member of PRB of Dentistry, Hon. Gloria M. Bumanlag; and Member of PRB for Professional Teacher, Hon. Paraluman R. Giron, the Commission Chairperson, Hon. Charito A. Zamora as represented by Hon. Commissioner Erwin M. Enad, and Philippine Red Cross Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn T. Pang. As agreed, the conduct of mobile blood donation shall run yearly and will primarily coincide with the Commission’s annual anniversary celebration. With this, both parties shall make the necessary promotion and dissemination of information to generate support and participation among its employees, professionals, and the public. Further, both shall remain open to maintaining effective and efficient coordination in the implementation of the MOA and create a harmonious professional relationship at all times.
For NCR and Central Office, the Bloodletting was conducted at the 5th Floor – Bulwagang Nubla. In which, it was able to generate more or less twenty-one thousand and six hundred (21,600) mL of blood from forty-eight (48) successful donors. With such a success, the two PRCs are optimistic to have more volunteers and donors in the succeeding activities. Prior to this event, simultaneous and nationwide Mass Donations have been in progress at the following Regional Offices: IV-B, V, VI, VII, IX, and XII. This is in the belief and adheres to the goal of “One Blood Donation could save up to three lives.” The two PRCs shall always be first, always ready, and always be visible. Together, they are the frontliners or frontrunners in saving and extending lives.
